Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically validated intervention for children with autism. ABA has been endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General as an effective treatment for autism. This workshop will provide an overview that defines the field of applied behavior analysis and explains why it is so successful.

This Course provides a comprehensive look at the issue of social skills development in students diagnosed with autism. Beginning with an introduction to six key social skills, it addresses the impact that deficits in these skills can have; it then covers activities, support strategies, and teaching methods for helping students develop these essential skills.
This Course brings together a number of disparate “special” subjects, including ways to teach the specific skills of attention-getting, requesting a break, and toileting, the uses for visual supports to help students with autism, and the use of creative reinforcement systems.
This Course consists of three very focused Workshops that present valuable information about the science of behavior analysis. These concepts are presented: first, proactive – or preventive – strategies to deal with behavioral issues; second, the process of implementing a replacement-behavior strategy; and third, reactive strategies as a final way of curbing inappropriate behavior.
This Course is addressed to general education teachers who have students with autism in their inclusive classrooms. Subjects include understanding reasons for inclusion; analyzing problem behavior; dealing productively with challenges such as social, communication, and independence challenges; understanding reasons for rituals and sensory challenges and addressing them; and simple ways to collect and analyze data.
This Course provides an introduction to the concepts of behavior management, starting with basic principles and an explanation of the functions of behavior. Other topics include ways to proactively manage a behavioral crisis; methods for working with students who have been diagnosed with Oppositional and Defiant Disorder, including those who have also been diagnosed with autism; and an introduction to the precepts of positive behavior support plans.
This Course provides a basic overview of autism and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including a thorough introduction to what ASD is; a discussion of science’s current understandings of the possible causes of ASD; an outline of the most common deficits autism and its related conditions cause; and a summary of the federal laws governing the education of students with ASD.
This institute is designed to provide information and applicable strategies to instructional staff that support students with disabilities in their classrooms.

Finally, you’ll get a glimpse into the lives of six students with autism and the teachers that make a difference in their lives.
